This week, Carolina based Whole-In-One: Playing To Your Strengths launched their new business site, www.wholeinone.org, introducing programs that teach teams and individual golfers how to use their game to determine and define their inherent strengths and how to capitalize on them in both their business and personal life. The purpose of their programs is to open a player’s game to a new dimension for exploration, improvement and enjoyment, to help fulfill their potential as players and teams either competitively or recreationally. In the world of golf, the predominant area for improvement has been the physical side of the game, new equipment technology, professional instruction, etc. With over 70 years of combined experience, avid golfers and Whole-In-One founders, Joan Shafer and Mitch Laurance, see it differently.
They believe that a paradigm shift is available for any player because there are significant realms that have yet to be explored and incorporated in the game. These include the emotional, mental and purpose-driven aspects addressing such questions as who you are, what makes you unique, how you overcome fear, and how to play to your strengths. Whole-In-One offers team building for college golf teams and workshops for golfers who want to take their game to the next level, but it doesn’t end there. They also teach techniques to teachers, coaches and professionals on how to best utilize the mental and emotional aspects of the game, and offer one-on-one coaching, leadership and development programs, and education in the forms of public speaking, keynote speeches and presentations. Each player or group is given a custom designed curriculum to address his or her individual needs and objectives.
For co-founder Mitch Laurance, Whole-In-One provides him the opportunity to share the gifts that golf has brought to his personal as well as professional life. Throughout his 30-year career as an actor and television sports commentator, golf has been a constant and ever-beckoning presence in his life. “I’ve always felt privileged to have found a game that encompasses so much joy and enthusiasm, so much searching and possibility, so much soul, while being played on a magnificent natural backdrop,” states Laurance. “It is the perfect environment in which to learn about who we are, to relish the process of that education, and to experience new and bountiful success.”
Co-founder Joan Shafer states, “In 1997, my best friend and I designed and delivered a week-long golf program called ‘Fairway to Heaven’ that we have continued to run in Scotland for golfers interested in exploring the deeper, spiritual aspects of the game. This program, along with my experience as a management consultant and group facilitator, was the impetus for wanting to create Whole-In-One.”
Canton based design firm, Insight Design Studios, was contracted to design Whole-In-One’s logo and website. The website offers updated information on their full line of services, background information on the principals, as well as an event schedule.
