Writer/ Artist and Simsbury CT native, Tim Golden didn’t set out to create a graphic novel. Who knew that painting a picture of a tattooed fairy would lead to this? But when you have more than one kid, you have to treat them all equal, or else . . . So after creating the fairy portrait for his oldest daughter, to keep the peace, Golden decided to make paintings for his other 2 children.

Hence the birth of Zombee Bob Jones. He began as a painting for Golden’s zombie loving son, but as we know, every picture tells a story and Bob Jones, the undead bowler from Bowels Montana, had allot to say.

As if infected by his image, Golden began writing Bob’s story and knew it was worth sharing. He took his ideas to Canton based, InSight Design Studios to create a website, promotional material, a blog, and bi- weekly webisodes to introduce Zombee Bob Jones to his public. They also designed his facebook and Twitter pages

A self-taught artist, Tim began his career by drawing 1970 and ‘80’s hair bands album covers and then moved up to wood burning bucolic scenes on tabletops. He later began collecting and creating skin graphics. This evolved to painting in acrylics and after being put on a long hiatus due to a work-related injury, along came Zombee Bob.

The Zombee Bob team will be hosting a booth at Enfield’s First Annual Zombie Walk for Hunger on Saturday, August 13th The walk takes place in Enfield at John F. Kennedy Middle School at 11:30 am and proceeds will benefit the Enfield Food Shelf.  Visit http://zombeebob.com/ to view the first webisode, find out the latest news and events or to visit the Zombee store.

Controlling Your Online Brand

When designing or re-designing a business website I’m always amazed at how many smart business people do not realize the importance of controlling their domain name. Your domain name is as an important part of your branding as your logo and company name. Many web design or hosting companies will offer you a free domain name with their hosting service. Just keep in mind; the person that registers and pays for a domain name owns it. If they suddenly go out of business, you have no way to access your information to change name servers. If you have a falling out, or you are just ready to move your business in a different direction, you are at the mercy of them to release it. It what other area of your business would you allow an outside party that much control?

Register your domain name with an accredited register. If you allow your web design company to register it for you, make sure you have access through a control panel to be able to change servers and make payments. Registration should be in the companies’ name, not in a single employee’s and all information regarding such as renewal notices should be sent to a company email that can be accessed by more than one person.

Like so many other areas of your business, keep a file of all pertinent information regarding your website. Hosting companies will come and go, as will employees. Don’t let your domain name go with them
