The Weeks Outdoors website launched this week with the goal of educating people who are interested in learning how to live a sustainable lifestyle. Shawn Weeks, lifelong New Englander and Canton, CT resident, has dedicated most of his adult life to teaching and promoting “The Great Outdoors”. With so many us feeling the economic pinch, http://www.weeksoutdoors.com/ offers ways to save money while leaving a smaller carbon footprint by providing information on raising back yard chickens for eggs, canning and preserving, safe firewood cutting and splitting, starting a vegetable garden, natural pest control and much more.
InSight Design Studios, a Canton, CT based graphic and website design firm created this “back to basics” site using modern design & the implementation of a content management system to allow Weeks to keep visitors updated with the most current information on conservation, farming and gardening, and wild life management. The site also offers a blog for Weeks to speak on current subjects and receive opinions from readers.” I really wanted a creative, cost effective way to reach potential clients who feel the pain of the economy, and want to learn to be more self sufficient, states Weeks. With all of the positive feedback regarding the website, I feel I am on the right track!”
With American’s growing concerns about the environment and our unstable economy, the sustainable living movement has come into fashion over the last few years but Shawn and his family are not concerned with being trendy. “I promote this lifestyle because I truly believe in it. It’s about creating balance between our natural systems, our economic system and our social system. Me being in fashion, that’s funny. That’s something I KNOW I’ve never had anything to do with.”
Shawn is a writer, Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator, Master Wildlife Conservationist and a certified Hunting Instructor. He is also an avid gardener, hunter, fisherman and family man. You can find his monthly feature on “pest around your property” on famersalmanac.com and visit the Weeks Outdoors facebook page to get and share ideas or maybe even to win a free basket of veggies!
