Design Is Important

It is not enough for your business to just have a website. Design is important. Your site will be representing who you are as a company on the Internet.  Everything from the style and color to the coding will determine what message you convey to visitors.

Your website needs to be found by search engines. Submission is vital but a search engine friendly design starts in the building of your site. It must be streamlined, rich in keywords, and have internal linking

A visitor should enter your site and find it appealing to the eye. A never-ending first page, too much text or garish color combinations are an immediate turn off.

It must also be clear in statement of purpose. Potential customers should immediately know exactly what products or services you provide.  You only have seconds. With one click of the back button, they are off to another site and you’re in the cyber wasteland.

So they know who you are and what you do, now what? Create a call to action. Your website should provide a natural progression that encourages visitors to take the next step, whether it be purchasing products or contacting you for services.

There is more to it than a good first impression. Once visitors are in your site, the idea is to keep them there.  Make sure your website is easy to navigate, provides all pertinent information and any purchases or downloads can be performed quickly and efficiently.

This is a big job. If it is not in your area of expertise, hire a professional. The price will vary depending on the functionality you need. Remember, you get what you pay for. The construction of your most visible marketing tool is not the place to cut corners. The cost is small in comparison with print ads, especially if you take into consideration that your site is a constant advertisement for your business. It will be on the internet until you decide to take it down so be sure you like what it is saying.

Artists Helping Artists

Artist Emily Dakota Black has launched Word Wisdom Art. She is showcasing her mixed media altered pieces. She creates one of a kind pieces that convey her belief that art and inspiration surround all of us, every day. What makes Emily’s business truly special is more than her positive message. It is her steadfast dedication to supporting other artists in need of help.

Every sale means a 5% contribution of net sales go to One Red Bead’s artists and their wish lists. One Red Bead provides much needed supplies to struggling artists.

How did One Red Bead get started? Emily was literally one red bead away from finishing a big project. So she jumped in the car and went to get one. On the way she says, “I thought of how many artists also need just that one thing, that one chance, but have no means to get it. So One Red Bead was born.”

At first she appealed to friends and family to give up their unused materials and supplies they’d stockpiled. She then found local artists in need and donated those items to them. All too soon, it became clear that there was a greater need than her very generous circle could support. Her dream of helping others was in danger of becoming lost so she got to work and began making and selling her own art, using a percentage to fund her vision. Now, wordwisdomart.com and One Red Bead are together, building a strong community of buying and sharing art that inspires all of us.
